Katie was the unofficial church...

Katie was the unofficial church welcomer. She didn't wear a greeter's tag. She wasn't on any church committee, but anyone who walked in the door was well welcomed by Katie. Katie rose early every Sunday morning, and with the help of her husband, baked dozens of buns. These buns were distributed to parishioners. Visitors were also greeted with fresh, homemade buns. But that was not all. Katie, a hugger by nature, was quick to give a warm hug even to strangers, a hug that said, "You are welcome here." But it didn't stop there. Katie would show visitors around the building, help them find worship materials, and a place to sit. After worship, it wasn't uncommon for Katie to invite visitors back to her home for lunch. Not a few church seekers joined the church because of Katie's welcome. (Katie died several years ago, and her death has left a huge hole in the congregation.)
I think Katie was a living example of Paul's exhortation: Welcome others as Christ has welcomed you.
