Judas brings to mind one...
Illustration
Judas brings to mind one of the mysteries of life -- the capacity for good and evil within each of us.
Luther had a Latin tag for this: Simul justus et peccator. (We are at the same time justified and sinners.)
I often reflect how Judas' mother must have loved him still. Francis Quarles has a word for us:
"Before thou reprehend another,
take heed thou are not culpable
in what thou goest about to
reprehend. He that cleanses a
blot with blotted fingers makes
a greater blur."
