John the Baptist's call for...
Illustration
John the Baptist's call "for everyone to straighten out his life," calls to mind Isaiah's beautiful words, "Every crooked place shall be made straight."
One road had a spot called "Devil's Dip," a valley and curve in the highway. It was well-named, for many an accident happened there.
Eventually the highway engineers decided to do something about it. They made a straight road alongside that curve. Cars have whizzed down that road through the years ever since, unmindful of how fortunate they are to be avoiding Devil's Dip, enjoying a straight road.
