John and Mary Schramm tell a story about the discovery of gifts in the congregation. It comes from the Community of Christ in Washington, D.C., a congregation they helped to found. As the congregation was becoming established, many of the people found some of the traditional tasks to do. They might have been musicians, teachers, bulletin-folders, typists, cooks, or cleaners. But there was one man in the parish who was having a hard time finding a place to serve.
