Jesus seemed really hard on...

Jesus seemed really hard on this poor woman. He insulted her, humiliated her, and caused
her mental anguish before he finally granted her request. I can't see myself doing that to
another person. I probably don't have the right to even if I could. But why would Jesus
gruffly rebuff her only to relent?
Have you ever selfishly prayed for another person? By that I mean, when a loved one is suffering and you pray, is your real concern for what the loss will mean for you, or is it truly for the welfare of your loved one? Sometimes it's difficult to separate one concern from the other. Often our anxiety centers on how we'll come out of the situation.
When Jesus kept putting off the Canaanite woman, she manifested no concern for herself, only for her daughter. Once that was clearly established, Jesus readily granted her request. When you pray, do you ask with the true needs of your loved ones in mind or do you ask mostly for yourself?
