Jesus addresses Philip directly and says, "Follow me." And Philip follows. In baptism, Jesus addresses us directly by name and we are freed to follow him too.

Philip not only follows Jesus, but also goes and gets his friend Nathaniel. We, too, are "called to call" others to follow, "the one Moses wrote about in the law, and about whom the other prophets wrote -- Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
