Jayne was a simple country girl, with a heart as big as the Saskatchewan skyscape. Her
favorite Bible verse was, "Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice." She knew a
song that contained these words and sang it repeatedly while doing her Bible school
chores. Jayne was known as "Rejoice Again Jayne."
One winter day, while Jayne was driving home from work, she got caught in a prairie blizzard. Visibility was reduced to near zero. Tragically, Jayne never saw the semi that had jackknifed and had come to rest across the highway. Her car slammed into and went under the big rig. Jayne was killed instantly.
At her funeral, the pastor's sermon was based on Philippians 4:4. We sang her favorite song, and her mother, through tears, said, "We must rejoice, even today. That was how Jayne lived. It would be what she wanted."
