Janet thought back to her childhood and the love that surrounded her from her mother and grandparents. They doted on her every need. There were advantages to being an only child. Janet had a happy, uneventful childhood and married the man she loved. They struggled in their calf ranching business and were blessed with four beautiful children. Then disease spread through the ranch and killed most of their cattle. Years later, floods forced them to sell what few cattle had survived, and they had to start again. Flood insurance was not known in those days.
