It was all her fault. She knew the police in that small town near the university were always looking for speeders. She knew, but this day her mind was wandering and the next thing she knew the lights of the police car were flashing behind her. Pulling over she braced for the worst. She really didn't need the hassle or the expense of a ticket.
"Do you know how fast you were going?" the officer asked.
"Yes," she said in a defeated tone, "and I really don't have any excuse. I just wasn't paying close enough attention."
