It is so necessary for...

It is so necessary for us to have a vision of the possible which Paul refers to, going beyond what was thought possible before. There was a boy who would look at the moon with great interest -- even without a girl present. On July 21, 1969, Neil Armstrong, became the first person to step on the moon. When we were young, some of us used to say about something thought to be impossible, "I could no more do that than I could fly to the moon without wings." We will never hear that again because we did go to the moon -- and without wings, the only way once thought possible.
We ought to be joyful of ways in which walls have come down in our time, and not just the Berlin Wall. How many of us thought we would live to see the day when the Berlin Wall would come down? O we of little faith! We did have a vision of what was possible.
There are other ways to give people the vision. Happily, many other optometrists do this, but I want to tell you about Dr. Mike Penney of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Dr. Penney and others took used glasses to Nepal last year. They were held up by customs. Apparently the government could not believe that these glasses would actually be given away. Dr. Penney tells of how people were amazed at what they now could see. Dr. Penney and others gave up two weeks of earning money, but they also paid their own expenses and went even though they could be assured they would be sick.
Would we have had a vision of what might possily happen in Nineveh when Jonah went there? Nineveh was located in what we call Iraq!
