It is almost devastating to discover that a human person as great and good as David could be as evil and ugly as he sometimes was. England's literary giant, Charles Dickens, a rather astute student of life, became almost cynical at this point. When he moved into Travistock House, he installed a hidden door to his study, making it appear as an unbroken wall of books, complete with dummy shelves and fictitious titles.
