If the pay was the joy and satisfaction of being a blessing, then the workers by the thousands who showed up in the Red River Valley between northern Minnesota and North Dakota were generously paid -- whether they were there since the spring of 1997's flood or newly arrived for just a week's work two years afterward. Much work has had to be done from the first trickle of water over the Red River's banks to the present day, long after the waters have receded. There have been those who have been working for two years straight, helping to clean, rebuild, and restart lives that had been swamped by the flood. There are those who have been able to travel great distances and enter into this "vineyard of the Lord" for only a week or two of work. Regardless, their reward is equally great and blessed by God.
