Idle -- When an automobile sounds...
Illustration
Idle -- When an automobile sounds as though it is doing something, and indeed, it is ready to do what it was designed for, but it still is not doing it. Autos are designed for transportation; idling is going nowhere. Idle -- When the team is not playing that day. Presumably they are resting, and that is good, but they still are not doing what they are supposed to be doing. When they are idle, they are not a team. Idle -- When a person is not doing what the Lord has called him or her to do. It comes from the broken English phrase, I am dull: I-dull.
