As I stood in the underground tunnel connecting the terminals at the Detroit airport, a
woman, seeing the bright, psychedelic, flashing lights for the first time exclaimed to me,
"Have you ever seen this before? Isn't this incredible? How am I ever going to explain
this to my grandchildren? They'll think I'm taking drugs or something." The architects of
that tunnel were on to something when they filled a dark and gloomy space with the most
wild, bright, light display that they could come up with. There is something about
overwhelming light that attracts us, especially when we find that light in a place we
would normally expect to be very dark.
