I remember as a teenager...

I remember as a teenager saving my allowance so that I could buy a wool sweater -- one just like my best friend had. My mother tried to point out all of the negative qualities of the particular sweater that I wanted: the color was not good for me; wool would probably irritate my skin; the sweater would have to be dry-cleaned; my entire savings would be spent on one item of clothing; there were not many opportunities to wear wool in our warm climate. I listened to her arguments, but decided to get the sweater anyway. -- Winifred
