I once knew a student in college who greatly neglected his studies, spending very little time in his books. He much preferred playing bridge to studying, and he saw to it that he had plenty of good times, to the neglect of the courses he was taking. When exam time came, he knew that he was poorly prepared to pass a test. So the night before his exam he would study hard through the evening and on into the night until it was nearly dawn.
