I looked at the group that I was supposed to lead up the twenty-six mile trail to the top of the Pike's Peak and smiled to myself. I wondered how much lighter we would be when we reached the top -- fifty percent? seventy percent? eighty percent? The loss would not come solely from calories burned and lost sweat.
