I always thought I was...

I always thought I was an obedient servant of the Lord ... until I went to Israel and walked down Hosanna Road. As I walked in the footsteps of Jesus, I realized how complacent I had become regarding both my faith and my calling. As I retraced my Master's steps, I knew I often did not measure up as an obedient disciple.
How did I arrive at my conclusion? Quite simply, because I do not always use my God-given gifts of discipleship for him. Too often I listen for other voices than Jesus'. When I do hear it, I often block it out. Too often I refuse to be the bearer of the Word of God. I sometimes shrink from continuing the prophetic succession.
But on the Hosanna Road, I realized how Jesus must have felt about his disciples. He wanted them to practice their faith with no fear or reservations. He wanted them to stand for God against any and all pressures and prejudices. After all, he provided them with a perfect example.
Isaiah knew the meaning of obedience as a disciple. He learned through experience, and so will I. I also am personally acquainted with the Perfect Example. Praise God! Hosanna!
