Emphasis Preaching Journal

Hot night in August,
crickets chirping.
Children dally, front-porch-sitting,
hushed and watching in the dark.
Soft warm air, lazy evening,
stars shine dimly high above.
Glorious night, dangerous night,
mother calls indoors.
Street light yellow, warmly glowing,
calls the other ones to come.
Talking softly, sharing glances,
cone of radiance all around.
Overhead, the moths are circling,
drawn like them to share the light.
