In his California backyard, a man put on a parachute and strapped himself into an aluminum lawn chair to which he had attached forty-five helium-filled weather balloons. He drifted three miles upward and was spotted by two passenger jetliners. By shooting several of the balloons with a BB pistol, he managed to settle back to earth after a ninety-minute "flight." His comment afterward, "It was something I had to do to achieve inner peace."

The sources of inner peace are many and wondrous. Who can predict where someone will find it next?
