Helen was a young mother...
Illustration
Helen was a young mother who was returning to work for the first time since her first
child was born three years earlier. She now had two children, her maternity leave from
her second child was over, and work beckoned. Helen dropped her children off at her
mother-in-law's. As she turned to go, her three-year-old called, "Mommy, I want to
come." Helen turned and said, "No. I love you. But you can't come with me. I will come
back later." It broke Helen's heart to hear her daughter cry; it was the first time that they
had really been apart since her birth.
