Have you observed in this tenth anniversary of our involvement in Vietnam how programs have been on the radio and television? The consensus, after ten years, is we did make a mistake in getting into that area, that we are still a divided nation over the issue, and we still don't have a clear idea and answer as to what it was all about.
Yet, when the protestors, like Jeremiah, spoke against our entering into this crisis, they, too, were taken in hand by the government and government sympathizers and called traitors. Yet, their prophesies have come true. They are the ones who can hold their heads high and say, "... for in truth the Lord sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears."
These protestors held true to their protestant backgrounds. They held allegiance to God despite their country's disavowal of them. Even though this country put these men and women in their hands and would have killed them, they stood with Jeremiah because, "the Lord sent me to prophesy against this house ..."
The heroes of the Vietnam conflict are those men and women who spoke for and with the Lord.
