Have you ever seen a kite escape from its tether? It enters into a series of tight spirals, spinning more and more wildly and erratically, until finally it crashes. The string -- which appeared at first like it was restricting the kite's freedom to soar -- is actually essential to its flight. So, too, with the law of God. The law which the psalmist teaches "is perfect, reviving the soul" can only accomplish that revival if you and I voluntarily submit to it.
