Haman would have liked Judge Isaac C. Parker. In nineteenth-century America, Judge Parker became known as "the hanging judge," for having executed 88 people on the gallows. The difference between the two, however, is rather distinct. Haman was out for the Jews in particular. Isaac C. Parker was out for the criminal element. Haman targeted Jews as being "criminals" simply because of their being Jews and thus considered deserving of death. Haman set himself up as judge and epitomized what David Dudley Field said of judges - that they "are but men, and are swayed like other men by vehement prejudices. This is corruption in reality."
