Greg Anderson, author of The Triumphant Patient (Nelson Publishers, 1992), tells the story of one W. Mitchell who as a young man was very severely burned in a collision between his motorcycle and a fuel truck. Mitchell remained undaunted in the face of the terrible scarring he experienced in the accident. He became a respectable public servant in his community, working for the good of the entire populace.
Years later Mitchell survived the crash of a small plane he was flying, but was paralyzed from the waist down. Figuring God had more for him to do, this incredible man studied for and entered the Christian ministry. His faith, insight and wisdom have been an inspiration for many, and he has used faithfully and well the days God has multiplied into years.
