The gospel passage tells that...

The gospel passage tells that God helps us to be born anew, giving us a new direction in our lives. He helps us to turn from sin to a life as his servant. I read an article about a change of direction. The article told of some of the best long distance runners in the world, the runners of Kenya, Africa. These people had been great runners for many centuries little known to the rest of the world until Kip Keter ran in the Olympic Games in the '50s. Later in the '60s came the great runner Kip Keino. Along with these champion runners there were many others who were also world-class runners. Some became curious about why so many great runners came from this country. The story that was discovered was that for many years they were raiders. The Kenyans could run 100 miles at night to raid the cattle from other tribes. Even though their land was several thousand feet above sea level and higher, they were said to be able to run like no one else on a handful of millet and a swallow of milk. Eventually their great running powers were directed toward racing and the young tribesmen used their great endurance for a different challenge.
