God's free grace unleashes new possibilities in the lives of grateful people. The story is told of Abraham Lincoln's failed attempt at storekeeping. As he wrestled with deciding whether to become a blacksmith or a lawyer, he worked in a store. As he cleaned the store he came upon stray volumes of Blackstone's Commentaries among some rubbish. The opportunity to study renewed Lincoln's interest in the law, so that when the fortunes of the store business declined rapidly, due in part to the abundant time spent by the young Lincoln reading beneath a large oak tree outside the store, his decision for his future livelihood was determined. Thus America was denied an obscure shopkeeper and given a great president.
