The game-ending buzzer sounded once again just as Jason hit is heart-stopping jumper from the base line. How many games ended like this? His team walked off the court victorious, thanks to his clutch performance down the stretch. As he started down the stairway to the locker room, a voice from behind called out his name. "That's me," he said turning. "What can I do for you?" "You've already done enough," the well-dressed man said. It was then that Jason recognized him as the scout and advance man for his state's university basketball team. They had met and talked together about three weeks ago with his current coach at Valley High. "You've got some great moves, Jason. We want you to come and play for the university. Coach Johnson is building a team that can make an honest run for the division championship next year. He wants you as part of the team. He thinks you have what it takes to make a difference in achieving that goal. He would like to work with you to develop your already impressive game." The scout looked directly into Jason's eyes to find out if he was making any progress with his recruitment. "Coach told me to tell you that if you come to play for him, he will see that you get all the game time you deserve and that you will be pleased with the results of your efforts."
The scout was declaring to Jason all that he had heard from the coach.
