French president and Mrs. Charles...

French president and Mrs. Charles De Gaulle were parents of a daughter, Anne, born retarded and in need of constant care and attention. De Gaulle frequently spent long hours playing simple games with her and at night would hold her hand until she fell asleep. When she died in 1948, her body was placed in the family vault. Looking at it, the General turned to his wife and said, "Now at last our child is just like all children." He was sounding the theme set by Jesus when he came healing. His work was a signal of God's intent for all humanity, that those who are sick, crippled, or otherwise physically broken might one day be "just like all others of God's children."
