The French painter, Henri Matisse, sometimes created art that left his admirers scratching their heads. During the fall of 1961, one of his paintings hung in New York's Museum of Modern Art for 47 days before anyone noticed it was displayed upside down. During that period 116,000 people had visited the gallery.
