At four years of age...

At four years of age, Erin was a bundle of energy. Everything seemed so exciting and new to her still. New discoveries were still lots of fun for her and things that would go unnoticed by most adults would still make her eyes sparkle like the ocean at sunrise. One day her father brought home a little package with an anniversary gift inside. The little girl saw her daddy carrying the package and asked, "What's inside, Daddy?" The father thought for a moment and then, shrugging his shoulders, said, "Can you keep a secret?" Quickly the little girl replied, "Yes, Daddy!" Opening the bag he took out a little box, opened it carefully, and showed the girl a beautiful string of pearls. "Oh, Daddy, those are beautiful. Mommy's going to love it!" The father reminded the little girl, "Remember, don't tell." Later that night, as the little girl was listening to her mom read a bedtime story, the heroine of the story was pictured in a long dress with a string of pearls around her neck. "Isn't she pretty?" asked the mom. "Oh, yes," said the little girl. "But not as beautiful as you'll be when Daddy gives you the pearl necklace he just bought you!"
