A fever to "gain the whole world is early caught.
It is told concerning Abraham Lincoln, when he still lived in Springfield, Illinois, that he once passed by the window of one of his neighbors, his two young sons in tow, both sending forth anguished cries.
The neighbor rushed to her house, down to the sidewalk, and found the frontier lawyer standing with his children, both sobbing uncontrollably. She asked with alarm, "Whatever is the matter with the boys, Mr. Lincoln?
