"Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people." (8:5)
The Pony Express was a thrilling part of American history. It ran from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California --a distance of 1,900 miles. The trip was made in ten days. To conserve weight, clothing was light. Mail pouches were flat, and letters had to be written on thin paper, with postage at $5.00 an ounce. Yet each rider carried a full-size Bible! It was deemed standard equipment. God was important to people in those frontier days, and they recognized the need for daily searching the Word.
