In an excellent sermon on the Second Petition of the Lord's Prayer, "Your kingdom come," the sainted Helmut Thiebecke related a moving personal experience. He was serving as a young pastor in Stuttgart when Allied bombing all but annihilated that city in World War II. In a moment of deep depression, he started down into a concrete cellar shattered by a bomb, killing more than 50 young people. A woman came up to him and said, "My husband died down there. His place is right under the hole. The clean-up squad was unable to find a trace of him; all that was left was his cap.
