Everyone liked Coach Harris. He was different than other high school coaches that most of the team had experienced. At the first football practice, he had the team run five laps around the field -- and he ran with them. Later, he had them run several sets of "bleachers," running up and down the bleachers. Again he ran with the team. In fact, most of the drills he ordered, he participated in, usually as the first one through. His reasoning? He couldn't very well order his team to do something he wasn't willing to do himself. The boys loved him and always gave him their very best.
