The Equal Status Acts 2000 and 2004 of Ireland, were enacted to ensure equality for all
Irish residents. The acts prohibit discrimination on any of the following nine grounds:
gender, marital status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, race, and
Traveler community (protects those who are identified historically as living a nomadic
way of life on the island of Ireland).
