English classes, writers' circles, and editorial staff argue over the usage of language. Does
one use who or whom? There or their? Lead or led? Should it be got or gotten? Do I
speak personally, using the first person singular, "I," or should it be impersonal, using
"one." Sometimes editors cringe, especially when faced with dialects: "Y'all" as in "Y'all
come back now, hear?" or "Yous" as in "Yous guys better watch it."
