Emily knew she was disappointing her parents. While she grew up attending Sunday school, church, and being active in the youth fellowship, as a young adult she abandoned her faith. Naturally her parents were disappointed. On more than one occasion her mom pleaded with her. Emily would hang up the phone on her mom. Emily told her she was an adult and could make her own choices.
Susan reminded her daughter of some of the projects she was involved in while attending Sunday school and later in youth fellowship. It seemed that whatever Susan said to her made her angry. It was truly a sad situation that continued for too long.
Whenever Susan thought about the kind of life Emily was leading it broke her heart. There were days when she cried. Yet Susan was determined to continue her relationship with her daughter. Some of her friends advised her to cut off ties with Emily. "She has made her bed, let her lie in it," one of her friends told her. But Susan continued to call Emily and more importantly continued praying for her. Prayerfully one day Emily will see for herself the error of her way and when she does she will be welcomed back.
Moses delivered God's Ten Commandments to the Israelites. This was the law the people were to live by. It did not take the people long to break the commandments. However, there is always room for grace. God loves each and every one of us, no matter where we find ourselves or what we do, God never stops loving us.
