In the early '70s, as NASA was gearing up for its Apollo moonshot program, someone was supposed to have made a Yogi Berra-like comment that went like this: "The moon isn't as big as the earth, but it is farther away."
A cartoon appeared after Neil Armstrong's "small step for man" onto the moon's surface. It showed a young couple, out for a romantic stroll, gazing up at the moon. The young man is saying to the young woman, "You think it's pretty now, you should have seen it before somebody stepped on it!"
