Each year about late October...
Illustration
Each year about late October a small group of unmarried Mennonite men set off from Lancaster County in Pennsylvania on a special errand. They drive a '38 customized truck that takes them into no less than 11 states throughout the mid-section of the country. Each time they stop, Mennonites and other church people greet them with gifts of live cattle and sides of beef. The cattle are butchered, and the beef is cooked and packed in aluminum cans.
