During one of the worst snow-winters in Marine City, Michigan, the snow came with both force and quantity and piled itself up on the sidewalks, in the ditches, on the streets, on house roofs, just everywhere. While the adults worried and the street department did its best, the schools closed down and all of us youngsters danced more than if the circus had come to town. We had been confined by the seriously low temperatures until the snow broke in upon us. Pa and Ma said we were now free to go outdoors. "Go do something fun, something exciting," they said.
