During the 1930s, a popular Scottish student, known for his oratorical ability, was accepted as minister of a rather large rural Presbyterian church just before his graduation from an Atlanta seminary. He immediately asked a shy fellow student to share the ministry as his associate. The dean of students questioned the young Scotsman about his chosen associate. "I am surprised at your decision," said the dean. "Christopher has been a good student, but his preaching abilities are very poor compared to your own, and his modesty makes it difficult for him to relate to others.
