Dreams and visions are taken...

Dreams and visions are taken seriously not only by biblical folks like Daniel, but also by people in the scientific and music communities. Kekulé's discovery of the structure of the benzene ring came from his vision of six snakes lying together in the shape of a ring, each swallowing the tale of the next one. Beethoven and Schumann are among those who reported their music coming to them in auditory visions or even in actual dreams. Morton Kelsey, in his book God, Dreams and Revelation, writes, "To value the spontaneously given content of the dream one must postulate the reality of something in addition to the material world and man's reason." The community of faith calls this reality the spiritual world through which "unsuspected avenues of relation to God and spiritual reality are revealed which open an exciting new dimension to ... life."
