Dr. Arnold Stevenson, once a prominent dentist in Montreal, told me many years ago one of the "classics" among old-time dentists. Into the new office of a young dentist in a cathedral town in England came the Bishop of the Anglican diocese. The dentist was elated. If he obtained the prelate's favor, his practice was made. The Bishop needed a replacement for an upper denture. After careful fittings the day came when the finished product was to be placed in his lordship's mouth. Very tenderly the dentist fitted it. He awaited the Bishop's verdict.
