Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a great German theologian martyred by the Nazis in 1945, wrote powerful letters of faith and insight. Most notably, he wrote them from prison. The same is true for Nelson Mandela, imprisoned by the apartheid system of South Africa. He emerged from prison with a sound maturity, peace of mind, and a clear vision of a multiracial society existing in harmony, one race with another.
