Did you ever wonder about...

Did you ever wonder about the song "Rock-A-Bye Baby"? When you think about it, those are some rather strange words to be singing to a little child in his crib: "When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall, and down will come baby, cradle and all." Those are not exactly the kind of words that might cause a little one to have sweet dreams. It turns out that "Rock-A-Bye Baby" was originally a political song, not a bedtime lullaby. It was written in England during the 1600s, during the period when Oliver Cromwell reigned as dictator.
