Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard tells the story of a prince who was passing through a village when he saw a beautiful young peasant girl. His first urge was to invite her to the palace for dinner. Instead he went home, changed clothes into that of a workingman, then went back to the village to meet her. He wanted her to love him for himself, not for his pomp. Paul says every knee shall bow to Christ. This, too, is love based on Christ himself not on pomp and power. -- Dickson
