In the classic movie, The Robe, there was a scene where Marcellus, the Roman soldier, is talking to Peter. Peter says there is no greater hypocrisy than his. He teaches everyone to be strong in the faith when he himself denied Jesus when Jesus needed him most, when all were leaving him like rats desert a sinking ship. Then Marcellus confesses the blight on his soul. He was the commander of the troops who crucified Jesus.
