Cheryl and Sandy met at work. They immediately hit it off, becoming the best of friends.
It was odd; though they had only known each other a short time it was as if they had been
friends for years. The two women began talking at lunch one day. They held many
experiences in common and probably had similar personalities. They talked about the
joys as well as the struggles of raising children. Both were dealing with family issues
when they met. They offered each other advice but more importantly support.
As Cheryl was dealing with a family illness, her faith was rekindled. She began asking other coworkers to pray for her family member. While Sandy had grown up in the church, she had drifted away to the point that she never thought about it. Mutual friends wondered if Cheryl's newfound faith would sever her friendship with Sandy.
One day at lunch, Cheryl began talking about Jesus and describing him as a friend. There was something about the way she described Jesus that made him come alive for Sandy. During the next week, all the two friends talked about was Jesus. If anything, these discussions brought the two closer together. Because of their friendship, Sandy realized how much she needed Jesus. It was a life-changing experience for Sandy as her faith came alive.
How would you describe Jesus to another person? Such a question needs to always be on our mind. Today we celebrate Christ the King Sunday where our focus is on Jesus.
