A certain man had sent away for a specially trained golden retriever. When the dog finally arrived, the man was so excited that right away he called up some of his buddies to go duck hunting. But after several hours of waiting beside a pond, they had not seen any ducks. Now the man was getting impatient, because he wanted to show off his dog's special ability. So the man said to his friends: "I really brought you out here to let you see my new dog in action. Take a look at this." And having said that, the man picked up a stick and threw it out into the middle of the pond.
